1224: Romsey Abbey, Romsey, Hampshire, England

6 June 2006

I have read with interest your report on the Candlemas Service at Romsey Abbey on 29th January 2006.

The unfriendliness you observed there has been the same for the 40 years that I have been associated with Romsey Abbey. Still after all these years some of the people that I know from attending the Abbey will not even acknowledge me in the the street and I am by no means the only person affected by this snobbery.

A year ago today, my family and I moved to North Baddesley and were warmly welcomed into the church – the vicar visited us immediately after the first Sunday service that we attended! The welcome at the door is always friendly and the services and music are extremely relevant and uplifting. I would like to suggest you try it for yourself sometime.
